In this period I'm working on HCL Connections migrations from 6.0 to 7.0 and I'm using the side by side approach. While I'm during this job, I prefer to use the dbt.jar for database migrations because this could help me to identify and fix issue at db schema level. In this migrations I had some issue with Wikis, Files (the same for both db) and Metrics

HCL Connections is a customizable product, using the traditional way with " <CNX-CUSTOMIZATION-DIR> " or using customizer. During this days we are working on an upgrade to version 7 where the whole cnx theme it was supposed to be customized in red even the Invite guest After some test without the result , because the HCL documentation was not updated (invite application is NOT mentioned even reading version 7.0 doc) we have found the correct path in a css comment ....

As you know , HCL Connections have a complementary sw named Docs, that is able to add the feature to view/edit "office" files inside Connections directly into the Browser. During last years I've installed several of this, some complete, some limited to the Viewer/Converter part and what I like to write is the official docs it's a total mess and for a newbie it's not useful and full of wrong advice.

One of my HCL Customers has reported the following error Bad Request Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand. Size of a request header field exceeds server limit. when some users was trying to login.

Like they have promised during Social Connections 15 about CR6 HCL has just released the new CR6 together with the new Component Pack 6.0.0.9. As usual CR6 include fixex, but also new functionalities , described in the following video.

Since Connections 6.0 CR5 , was released there was also an update of the great optional editor formerly know as Ephox now named TinyMCE 5. I love this editor ( and my customers love it too) because all the features available, so I usually add it to all my Connections setup. In almost every cases the setup is very easy because to perform the setup it's needed only to run a script and install an EAR on the appserver but in some cases due particular SSH config, it could be required the manual setup. During my last CR5 upgrade I wasn't able to use the script so I've followed the manual setup like it's written on IBM Documentation at this page..

IBM Connections 6.0 CR5 : Transferring ownership of user files

One of the new features of the IBM Connections 6.0 CR5 is the availability of a new admin command to move the file ownership between users. As usual this feature has no GUI and you have to use it from wsadmin prompt .

WebSphere How To: fix errore ADMG0011E while Application Server deletion

Working on a WebSphere 8.5.0.2 environment I was unable to delete an Application server getting the error ADMG0011E. Inside DMGR and NodeAgent logs I wasn't able to find anything related but inside DMGR FFDC, folder I got a log generated during the deletion time frame with following exceptions.

ID Vault was one of the greatest features introduced to IBM Domino and Notes last years. If you are working with IBM Connections cloud Notes, you can of course, working with the ID vault to secure the IDs and works better and easier. Notes user migrated to the Connections cloud Notes are included in Cloud vault and you have to unlock the dowload resetting the pasword.
